He also has a diploma from the Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA, and a diploma from Yonsei University, Korean Language Institute in Seoul, Korea.
Rev. Bolton is independently (non-denominationally) ordained. His teaching is a holistic and balanced approach to living in faith everyday.
He entered the US Army in 1975, enlisting as a Chaplain Assistant (Chapel Activities Supervisor), working in Army chapels. In 1980, he applied for a transfer into Military Intelligence and was sent to the Defense Language Institute to study Korean.
In 1986, he took his discharge from the US Army and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, obtaining a job with Tennessee Department of Human Services as a Certified Social Counselor II, working in the field of child protective services. During this time he also became a deacon/Bible teacher with Nashville Korean Presbyterian Church. He wanted to stay involved with Koreans to some extent so that he could maintain his Korean language ability.
In 1991, he moved to Jacksonville, Arkansas, and began attending the Korean First Baptist Church of Arkansas. He initiated an adult English Bible study class, and held these classes for two years. In 1995 he was asked to begin leading English-language worship services and preaching. He served as the Assistant Pastor for English Services (English Ministries Pastor) at that time and was also designated the church's Education Minister in 1997.
During this time, he worked with at-risk youth at the Little Rock Job Corps Center as a Resident Advisor (93-95), Counselor (95-97) and Center Standards (Behavior Management) Officer (97-98.) He moved back to Nashville, Tennessee in 1999, and worked in Child Support Services for Davidson County, TN, for a few years. He is now a Case Manager with the State of Tennessee Division of Mental Retardation Services.
He was a Bible teacher at Trinity Fellowship Church in White House, TN, from 2004 - 2006. He was the Local Elder for Tennessee (Nov 2005 - Aug 2007) and member of the Region VI Council of Elders for United Christian Faith Ministries. He is currently a discipleship teacher and pastoral counselor at Christ Worship Center, White House, TN.
He founded Faith Word Ministries in 1997, a ministry established as a teaching ministry that branched out to Web Ministries, Bible Studies, and writing, all geared towards teaching the Principles of L.I.F.E. (Living In Faith Everyday.) In order to reflect the fact that the life of faith is more than just speaking faith words, the more balanced and holistic range of
teaching developed over the years, and to avoid identification with Word of
Faith, Dr. Bolton reorganized and renamed the ministry L.I.F.E. Word Ministries
in 2005. As this ministry continues to grow and expand, we covet your prayers
and support for our work.
